Get a certified coach/instructor to guide you along the way. Build on successes and learn from failures. Improvement starts at the end of your comfort zone.
Best advice he received from someone:
One of my mentors, Tom Osborne, head coach of the University of Nebraska Football team always emphasized focusing on the process, not the outcome, executing fundamentals correctly, but always compete with integrity and character.

Bio

Larry started playing pool when he was young and hardly tall enough to see the surface of his parents’ undersized bar table. He fell in love with the game immediately and started spending a lot of time on the table, primarily learning shots described in Kim Davenport’s “Target Pool”. Larry grew up playing many sports and was heavily involved in coaching, before playing pool seriously in 1995.

Larry was quickly recognized as a very good pool player, but also humbly realized he was nowhere near as good as he thought he was. He started teaching students in 1999 and became a member of the PBIA (Professional Billiards Instructor Association) and ACS (American Cue Sports) instructor programs around 2018. It was back in 2010 that while competing in Las Vegas, Larry formed a friendship and bond with Steve Lillis and Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman, and joined the Gospel Trick Shot Ministry in 2017.

Larry has also grown up with a deep faith and love for Jesus Christ. In 2016 he became an ordained minister, and since devotes time towards apologetics and becoming a biblically sound evangelical Christian.

“My dreams now are to connect with as many aspiring pool players as I can, sharing stories, building friendships, teaching lessons, and sharing life lessons using skills that I am blessed with. When opportunities arise, Larry is also able to to perform a complete Gospel Trick Shot exhibition, and share the Gospel Message, performing a variety of trick shots, and personal testimonies that inspire hope and faith, in others.”

Although Larry has played professionally, or semi-professionally in a number of sports, Larry now has shifted his passion to inspiring greatness in others, more so than he pursues greatness in himself.
